Bite Me - Shelly Laurenston

I absolutely love The Pride Series!! Bite Me is the ninth book in the series and I loved it like I loved the first one.

Shelly Laurenston has the uncanny ability to make me laugh out loud like a damn loon. The characters she writes are some of the most socially awkward but lovable shifters.

The biggest reason that these books are some of my favorites has to do with the fact that every book features a different person/couple with the addition of cameos by everyone who already had their own book.

In my opinion, I think that you should start at the beginning of the series, actually you should start with Magnus Pack. It’s not necessary, as these books are great as a stand alone but you get the best experience with the characters if you start from the first one. Each and every character evolves with every new book.

If you want to start this series, start with Magnus Pack
1. Pack Challenge
2. Go Fetch!
3. Here Kitty, Kitty!

Then continue onto The Pride Series
1. The Mane Event
2. The Beast in Him
3. The Mane Attraction
4. The Mane Squeeze
5. Beast Behaving Badly
6. Big Bad Beast
7. Bear Meets Girl
8. Wolf with Benefits
9. Bite Me

You won’t regret it.

And now, my favorite quotes from Bite Me.

And this was the problem with being a hybrid. Vic’s bear side had no issue with the staring and the silence and the bamboo munching. The feline side of him, however…wanted to tear Shen’s face off. Just for the munching sound alone. -Vic

“You’re at your father’s funeral–” “I’m sure he was killed for a very good reason.” “–your mother is fighting with his entire family over money–” “In her mind, the fact that she didn’t kill him herself means she earned that money.” “–someone unleashed poisonous snakes in the backyard–” “For the kids to have something to play with.” “–and your father’s mistress just showed up.” -Toni and Livy

Toni shook her head. “I swear, your entire family is like an episode of Dallas.” “I was thinking more like Dynasty, but without the shoulder pads. My people do not need shoulder pads.” -Toni and Livy

Vic stared at her a moment before finally stating, “I want to awkwardly hug you.” Livy looked up at him. “Awkwardly?” “Neither of us is very good with affection, so I pretty much assume that any physical encounters between us will be awkward.” -Vic and Livy

These were the pro teams. Or as Livy liked to call them, the “teams with all the penises.”-Livy

“All shifters are sensitive to sound.” “We are, but you guys get weirded out by the most minor noises. And when I’m traveling with the team and we all hear a siren, only the canines start all that goddamn howling.” “Ain’t nothin’ wrong with a good howl, feline. Better than hissin’ like a slowly deflating air bag.” -Cella and Dee

“Why are you bringing me anything?” “It’s what people do when a friend suffers a loss.” “We’re friends?” “I just bought you all these baskets, so we better be.” -Vic and Livy

She peeked over the collar of the jacket to look directly at Vic. “It’s an ungodly amount of money. Un. God. Ly.”
